International Women's Day: Celebrating Women in Singapore

March 8th marks International Women's Day (IWD), a global occasion to honour women's achievements and advocate for gender equity. In Singapore, this day is a reminder of how far we’ve come and the work that remains in building an inclusive society. IWD has evolved into a global movement emphasizing equal opportunities for women. This year’s theme, #EmbraceEquity, highlights the need for tailored support to help women succeed. Singapore has made great strides in empowering women across various fields, with leaders like President Halimah Yacob and Minister Grace Fu exemplifying this progress. Organizations such as the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisations (SCWO) provide mentorship and advocacy. Celebrating IWD can be simple yet impactful—showing gratitude to the women in our lives, supporting women-owned businesses, learning about inspiring female leaders, advocating for gender equity, and contributing to organizations that uplift women. While we celebrate women’s achievements, we must continue striving for gender equity. By working together, we can ensure that Singapore remains a place where women thrive.
